25th issue released




Mangalore, Aug 5: Dr T M A Pai Foundation Manipal Chairman Sri K K Pai appreciated the role being played by small publications like 'Kodial Khabar', a Konknai fortnightly, in imbibing a sense of self-respect among the members of the Konkani speaking community. For any community to prosper, a sense of self-respect among its members is of paramount importance, he said.
He was speaking at a function organized on the occasion of the release of the 25th issue of Konkani fortnightly, 'Kodial Khabar' being published from the city.
Well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist from BangaloreSri P Dayanand Pai released the 25th issue of the publication. He said that nurturing the publication towards taking it to greater heights, is the responsibility of the Konkani community and pledged his whole-hearted support for the publication.
A book on cookery titled 'Vasarentu Hanv' authored by Smt. Geetha C Kini, dealing primarily with food items specifically prevalent among the G S B community, was jointly released by GSB Mahila Vrinda Mangalore presidentSmt. Shobha Kamath and Konkani Cultural Association president Hundi Prabha Kamat on the occasion.
Konkani stalwart Sri Basti Vaman Shenoy presided over the function. He wished that the publication will succeed in creating a sense of belongingness among the community members towards the cultural, literature and art heritage of the community.
'Kodial Khabar' editor Venkatesh Baliga welcomed. He appealed for the full-fledged support of the community for his endeavours, supported with a demonstration. Vidya Baliga proposed vote of thanks.Smt. Usha Mohan Pai compered the programme.
Corporation Bank general manager Sri B R Bhat, Srikrishna Dairy Private Ltd managing director Sri Pradip G Pai, Shree Venkatramana Temple managing trustee Sri C L Shenoy, Sri G Vishwanat Kamath of Canara Chamber of Commerce, Dr K Mohan Pai of Karnataka State Minority Konkani Linguistic Schools Association, SriKasargod Chinna, Sri T Ganapati Pai and several other dignitaries were present.
